BTCC Croft Circuit : Croft Clervaux Corner : Croft Hawthorn CornerCroft Sunny In : Sunny Out : Complex : Croft HairpinIn 2008 I have been back to see the HiQ MSA British Touring Cars event at Croft, in North East England. The BTCC weekend is made up of a series of different competitions, these photographs were taken on the practice and qualification day on the saturday May 31st, the weather was warm and sunny with a slight cooling breeze. The action is surprisingly good on the saturday and tremendous value, as the practice sessions and qualification for all the different formula start from 9.30am and go on through to a series of three races into the early evening. Most of these photographs were taken with exposures around 1/300 - 1/500 th of a second, using an effective film speed rating of 100 ISO. Almost all the action photos were taken in the focal length range of 280mm - 400mm. Keep the shutter speed high 1/400th or faster else you will find lots of your images are marginally blurred when you see them on your computer or in larger printouts. You will also find focussing is very difficult to get right, keeping focus on the front of the vehicle is difficult, as the f number is likely to be around f4 - f6, sharp focus is a very short range, the majority of my photos end up with the middle and back of the car in focus, but the front not quite! Take plenty of shots and be prepared to lose loads when you see them large on your monitor. |
