These are photographs of Surfers in Cayton Bay, 3 miles south of Scarborough. They were taken mid afternoon, near low tide on the 11th March 2007.
The light was diffused sunlight, the surf was quite gentle, most of the photographs were taken with exposures around 1/500 - 1/800 th of a second, using an effective film speed rating of 400-800 ISO. Almost all these photos were taken at the full extent of my 400mm zoom lens.

Surfing (surfboarding) is popular along this stretch of the North Eastern England Coastline, with a number of key areas such as Cayton Bay (inc the Point and Pump), Scarborough North Bay and South Bay. The 2 Scarborough Bays are generally more appropriate for beginner and newer surfers.
